Air Quality Alert issued November 8 at 11:11PM EST by NWS Charleston WVThe West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection has issued acode ORANGE air quality advisory for particulate matter due toregional wildfire smoke for southern West Virginia through Saturday,November 9, 2024. Changing weather conditions may impact these valuesover the course of the next couple of days.A code ORANGE air quality advisory means that air pollutionconcentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitivegroups. Sensitive groups include children, the elderly, and peoplesuffering from asthma, heart disease, or other lung diseases. Theeffects of air pollution can be minimized by avoiding outdoorexercise or strenuous activity. Check AirNow.gov for current airmonitor readings.
