Extreme Cold Warning issued January 22 at 4:33AM EST until January 22 at 10:00AM EST by NWS Cleveland OH* WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 26 below.* WHERE...Portions of north central, northeast, and northwest Ohioand northwest Pennsylvania.* WHEN...Until 10 AM EST this morning.* IMPACTS...The cold wind chills as low as 26 below zero could causefrostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Frostbiteand hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to thesetemperatures. An extended period of freezing temperatures couldcause ruptured water pipes.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Low temperatures this morning will range from5 to 15 below zero. Wind chill values will be between 20 and 26below zero, with localized colder wind chills.Lingering cold with sub zero wind chills could continue throughtonight.Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you mustgo outside.To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them todrip slowly.Keep pets indoors as much as possible.Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors.
