Air Quality Alert issued October 3 at 2:36PM CDT by NWS Norman OKThe following statement was issued by the Oklahoma Department ofEnvironmental Quality from 10 AM to 10 PM CDT Friday.An Air Quality Alert for Ozone has been issued for Friday...October 4...for the Oklahoma City Metropolitan area due to expectedhigh concentrations of ozone.Public Health Recommendations: Persons with existing heart orrespiratory ailments should reduce physical exertion and outdooractivity.The general public is encouraged to help alleviate the problem byreducing vehicle miles traveled by riding the bus, carpooling, oravoiding unnecessary trips. The public is also asked to avoidrefueling during the morning and early afternoon hours, and to avoidthe use of two cycle engines such as lawn mowers, motorcycles, weedtrimmers, and outboard engines.
