Travel will be difficult,especially for high profile vehicles.Remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, andavoid windows. Watch for falling debris and tree limbs. Special Weather Statement issued February 17 at 5:17AM EST by NWS Binghamton NYHAZARDS...A lake effect snow band accompanied by winds of up to 45MPH which can rapidly reduce visibility to less than a quarter of amile.LOCATION AND MOVEMENT...At 517 AM EST, a lake effect snow band wasalong a line extending from Rheims to near Van Etten to Union Centerto Windsor to near Hancock and was nearly stationary.LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE...Binghamton, Vestal, Johnson City, Endicott, Kirkwood, Bath, Conklin,Maine, Owego, and Sanford.This includes the following highway exits...New York Interstate 81 between 1 and 7.Interstate 86/Route 17 between 36 and 37, and between 64 and 90.Interstate 88 between 1 and 6.Interstate 390 between 1 and 2.SAFETY INFO...Use extra caution if you must travel into or through this lake effectsnow band. Rapid changes in visibility and potentially slick roadsmay lead to accidents.Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Beprepared for snow or ice covered roads.
