Lake Effect Snow Warning issued November 30 at 3:27AM EST until December 2 at 7:00PM EST by NWS Buffalo NY* WHAT...Extremely heavy lake effect snow. Additional snowaccumulations 2 to 4 feet in the most persistent lake snows.* WHERE...Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Southern ErieCounties. The greatest total accumulations are expected acrosswestern Chautauqua and southwest Erie counties.* WHEN...Until 7 PM EST Monday.* IMPACTS...Whiteout conditions are expected and will make traveltreacherous and potentially dangerous. Travel will be verydifficult to impossible within the heaviest portion of the lakeeffect snowband.During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locallyheavy snow with greatly reduced visibilities to dry conditions justa few miles away. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather,visibility, and road conditions.Delay all travel. If you must travel, drive with extreme caution.Take a winter storm kit along with you, including such items as tirechains, booster cables, a flashlight, shovel, blankets, and extraclothing. Also take water, non-perishable food, a first aid kit, andanything else that would help you survive if you become stranded.
