Travel will be difficult,especially for high profile vehicles.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Strong winds along with the weight of snowand ice on trees will lead to an increased risk of downed treesand power lines, resulting in power outages.Remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, andavoid windows. Watch for falling debris and tree limbs. Use cautionif you must drive.

Winds gusting as high as 60 mph.* WHERE...Montgomery, Northern Herkimer, Southern Fulton, andSouthern Herkimer Counties.* WHEN...Until 6 AM EST Wednesday.* IMPACTS...Travel will be difficult. Areas of blowing snow couldsignificantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions couldimpact the morning and evening commutes today. Strong winds maycause tree damage.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Strong winds along with the weight of snowand ice on trees could result in some downed tree branches leadingto power outages. Heavy lake effect snow will continue throughTuesday with the potential for near blizzard conditions at times.The strongest winds and greatest snowfall will occur in southernHerkimer County.During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locallyheavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities canalso vary greatly. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather,visibility, and road conditions.If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water inyour vehicle in case of an emergency.

A quickinch of snow could accumulate.LOCATION AND MOVEMENT...At 422 AM EST, a lake effect snow band wasalong a line extending from Watervliet to Jordanville and movingsoutheast at 20 MPH.LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE...Schenectady, Troy, Clifton Park, Rotterdam, Cohoes, Watervliet,Scotia, Canajoharie, Latham, Niskayuna, Duanesburg, Green Island,Waterford, Ames, Jordanville, Rotterdam Junction, East Glenville,Center Brunswick, Alplaus, and Pattersonville-Rotterdam Junction.This includes the following highways...Interstate 88 near exit 25.Interstate 90 between exits 25 and 26, and near exit 29.Interstate 890 between exits 1a and 9.Interstate 87 between exits 5 and 7, and near exit 8A.Interstate 787 between exits 8 and 9.SAFETY INFO...Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations.
