Winter Weather Advisory issued January 2 at 3:16AM EST until January 5 at 6:00PM EST by NWS Buffalo NY* WHAT...Lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations 6 to 12inches in the most persistent lake snows. Winds gusting as high as40 mph will produce blowing and drifting snow.* WHERE...Allegany County. The greatest accumulations will be acrossthe higher terrain in the western portion of the county.* WHEN...Until 6 PM EST Sunday.* IMPACTS...Travel will be difficult at times with snow coveredroads and reduced visibility. The hazardous conditions will impactthe Thursday morning and evening commutes.Lake effect snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling,be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities.Submit snow reports through our website or social media.During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locallyheavy snow with greatly reduced visibilities to dry conditions justa few miles away.
