In Nevada, Las Vegas Valley and WesternClark and Southern Nye County.* WHEN...Until 11 PM PDT Thursday.* IMPACTS...Heat-related illnesses increase significantly duringextreme heat events.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Hot temperatures overnight will mean littlerelief from the daytime heat, especially in Las Vegas and DeathValley, where low temperatures may not fall below 90 degrees forseveral days.Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out ofthe sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Carinteriors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight andloose-fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to earlymorning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heatexhaustion and heat stroke.To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety andHealth Administration (OSHA) recommends scheduling frequent restbreaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
