Winter Storm Warning issued January 6 at 3:21AM CST until January 6 at 12:00PM CST by NWS Paducah KY* WHAT...Additional snow accumulations up to two inches and iceaccumulations around a light glaze.* WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois and southwest Indiana.* WHEN...Until noon CST /1 PM EST/ today.* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, willremain slick and hazardous. Significant ice accumulation on powerlines and tree limbs may lead to additional power outages due towind gusts up to 30 mph. Plan on slippery road conditions. Thehazardous conditions will impact the morning commute.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...An arctic blast will arrive Monday and lastthrough most of the week. Wind chill values will drop into thesingle digits or below zero at times, which can be even moredangerous with any long duration power outages.Persons should delay all travel if possible. If travel is absolutelynecessary, drive with extreme caution and be prepared for suddenchanges in visibility. Leave plenty of room between you and themotorist ahead of you, and allow extra time to reach yourdestination. Avoid sudden braking or acceleration, and be especiallycautious on hills or when making turns. Make sure your car iswinterized and in good working order.Do not touch downed lines and report any power outages to yourelectric company. Travel is highly discouraged due to slick roadwaysand the possibility of downed trees and power lines.
