Fire Weather Watch issued January 17 at 1:54PM PST until January 21 at 10:00PM PST by NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA...HIGH RISK FOR RED FLAG CONDITIONS MONDAY THROUGH AT LEASTTUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK FOR MUCH OF LOS ANGELES AND VENTURACOUNTIES....A moderate to locally strong Santa Ana Wind event is expected todevelop Monday and last through at least Tuesday. Humidities willlower drastically at the same time. Along with the extremely dryfuels, this will create a high risk for critical fire weatherconditions and rapid fire spread with any new fires. A FireWeather Watch is an outlook statement for the potential of RedFlag Warnings several days away. The likely decision on convertingthis watch to a Red Flag Warning will be made over the weekend.With dry conditions lasting through Friday of next week, andadditional rounds of enhanced offshore flow likely, Red FlagWarnings may be needed beyond Tuesday.The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued aFire Weather Watch for wind and low relative humidity, which isin effect from Monday morning through Tuesday evening.* WINDS...Northeast to east winds peaking at 20 to 30 mph withgusts to 50 mph. Isolated gusts of 50 to 60 mph likely.* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Daily minimums of 3 to 10 percent common.* IMPACTS...If fire ignition occurs, conditions are favorable forextreme fire behavior and rapid fire growth, which wouldthreaten life and property.A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditionsare likely to occur in the coming days.
