severe thunderstorm watch in effectConditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.Severe thunderstorm activity is expected in southern Saskatchewan tonight as a low pressure system begins to strengthen in Montana. Ahead of a few severe storms in the southeast early this evening, bands of showers and thunderstorms will move through the region late this evening and into the overnight hours. Regions along and south of the Trans Canada Highway will likely see heavy rains, up to nickel to quarter-sized hail and gusty winds with these storms.###Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.
