Damaging Surf conditions which may lead to localised damage and coastal erosion are forecast to develop during this afternoon and evening about Gold Coast waters as well as the eastern coasts of Moreton Island and North Stradbroke Island. These conditions may persist during Saturday, before easing overnight Saturday night, depending on the strength and movement of the low pressure system. A Hazardous Surf Warning is also current for Sunshine and Gold Coast waters. Beach conditions in these areas could be dangerous and people should stay well away from the surf and surf exposed areas. Locations which may be affected include Gold Coast, Moreton Island and North Stradbroke Island.Coastal Hazard Warningfor DAMAGING SURFIssued at 4:51 am Friday, 27 September 2024.Emergency services advise people to: * Know your limitations around beaches, tidal rivers and creeks. Adhere to warning from lifesavers and lifeguards . * If you have a boat or water craft, haul out if possible or check your moorings are secure. * If you have children make sure they are within arm's reach around the water.The next Coastal Hazard Warning will be issued by 11:00 am AEST Friday.Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and emergency services would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
